A Muslim gunman, Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, carried out murderous terrorist attacks against US military personnel in Chattanooga, Tennessee. On July 16th, Muhammad’s brutal actions led to the death of five military personnel. This cold blooded murderer slaughtered four Marines and one Navy sailor at a military reserve center.
We express our compassion and prayers for the comfort of the families and friends of these murdered military personnel who had the task of defending our country. We encourage the families and friends of these military personnel to turn to the God of the Bible for comfort and peace in this time of sorrow.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
It appears that Muhammad was influenced by dedicated Muslim terrorists to carry out these brutal murders.
“Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez, the gunman who … killed four Marines and a Navy sailor last week in Tennessee, had downloaded audio recordings of Anwar al-Awlaki, the American-Yemeni cleric who was a recruiter for al Qaeda, law enforcement officials told NBC News.
The gunman also had CDs of al-Awlaki’s sermons, the officials said. Al-Awlaki was killed by an American drone strike in Yemen in 2011.
A law enforcement official also told NBC News that Abdulazeez’s uncle in Jordan is believed to be ‘radical’ and officials are investigating whether he influenced Abdulazeez when he was living there. Abdulazeez traveled to Jordan from April to November 2014.” (1)
Most likely, Al Qaeda influenced Mohammad to carry out these terrorist attacks. Al Qaeda is recognized as a Muslim terrorist group by many governments. Al Qaeda’s leaders constantly recruit members to carry out violent actions against those who are not Muslims and those Muslims who are not as dedicated to the Quran as they are.
“Al-Qaeda ideologues envision a complete break from all foreign influences in Muslim countries, and the creation of a new worldwide Islamic caliphate.
Among the beliefs ascribed to al-Qaeda members is the conviction that a Christian–Jewish alliance is conspiring to destroy Islam. As Salafist jihadists, they believe that the killing of non-combatants is religiously sanctioned, and they ignore any aspect of religious scripture which might be interpreted as forbidding the murder of non-combatants and internecine fighting. Al-Qaeda also opposes what it regards as man-made laws, and wants to replace them with a strict form of sharia law.” (2)
It also seems apparent that Mohammad was encouraged by ISIS to carry out these murderous terrorist attacks.
“A confirmed ISIS account warned of the attack beforehand, posting the hashtag # Chattanooga on his Twitter account — and also suggesting further attacks in other cities.” (3)
Both Al-Qaeda and ISIS are very similar because they are Muslim terrorists who are guided by the verses of the Quran that teach violence. Those Muslims who claim that Islam is a religion of peace are sometimes attacked by these terrorists groups. They are attacked because they are considered unfaithful to the true violent teachings of the Muslim Quran. The following are just a few of the many verses from the Quran that encourage those in the Muslim religion to commit violent actions against those who do not hold the beliefs of the Muslims.
Quran (2:191-193) – “‘And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killing…but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone. But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun (the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)’
(Translation is from the Noble Quran) The verse prior to this (190) refers to ‘fighting for the cause of Allah those who fight you’ leading some to believe that the entire passage refers to a defensive war in which Muslims are defending their homes and families. The historical context of this passage is not defensive warfare, however, since Muhammad and his Muslims had just relocated to Medina and were not under attack by their Meccan adversaries. In fact, the verses urge offensive warfare, in that Muslims are to drive Meccans out of their own city (which they later did). Verse 190 thus means to fight those who offer resistance to Allah’s rule (ie. Muslim conquest). The use of the word ‘persecution’ by some Muslim translators is disingenuous (the actual Arabic words for persecution – ‘idtihad’ – and oppression – a variation of ‘z-l-m’ – do not appear in the verse). The word used instead, ‘fitna’, can mean disbelief, or the disorder that results from unbelief or temptation. This is certainly what is meant in this context since the violence is explicitly commissioned ‘until religion is for Allah’ – ie. unbelievers desist in their unbelief.” (4)
Quran (2:244) – “Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things.” (5)
Quran (4:95) – ‘“Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward’
This passage criticizes ‘peaceful’ Muslims who do not join in the violence, letting them know that they are less worthy in Allah’s eyes. It also demolishes the modern myth that ‘Jihad’ doesn’t mean holy war in the Quran, but rather a spiritual struggle. Not only is this Arabic word (mujahiduna) used in this passage, but it is clearly not referring to anything spiritual, since the physically disabled are given exemption. (The Hadith reveals the context of the passage to be in response to a blind man’s protest that he is unable to engage in Jihad, which would not make sense if it meant an internal struggle). According to the verse, Allah will allow the disabled into Paradise, but will provide a larger reward to those who are able to kill others in his cause.” (6)
Quran (8:12) – ‘“I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them’
No reasonable person would interpret this to mean a spiritual struggle.” (7)
Anyone who rejects the Muslim religion is considered the enemies of Allah, and they are marked for death. With this in mind, it is not hard to understand how Mohammad was influenced to join their unholy cause in the murder of innocent military personnel.
“For months the Islamic State has been exhorting their Muslim followers to target and kill US military personnel. Last October, an Army intelligence bulletin warned U.S. military personnel to be vigilant after Islamic State militants called on supporters to scour social media for addresses of their family members – and to ‘show up [at their homes] and slaughter them.’” (8)
These Muslim terrorist groups recruit young men and women by offering them false promises of Paradise in eternity. These murderous terrorists are constantly encouraged to kill Jews. They tell them that if they die while killing those who do not believe in the Muslim religion they will be greatly rewarded in Paradise after death. It is very possible that 24 year old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez fell for this lie. If Muhammad did not make a last moment decision to repent and believe on Jesus as his Saviour, he lifted up his eyes in the prison of Hell, instead of Paradise. Since Muhammad went to his death in a gun battle with the police, it appears that there was no repentance. Instead of eternal pleasure, Muhammad is facing everlasting punishment. We pray that his family and friends turn to the true God of the Bible through Jesus Christ.
Mark 1:14-15 “Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
Acts 16:30-31 “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
