Self-proclaimed prophet, Efrain Rodriguez of Puerto Rico, claims that God spoke to him and told him that a destructive asteroid was going to strike the Earth near Puerto Rico. According to the Scriptures, can we believe that Rodriguez is a prophet of God and that his prophecy about a doomsday asteroid hitting the Earth is true? On the other hand, is there evidence to prove that Rodriguez is a false prophet? The Bible speaks about deadly judgments from God the Father and God the Son, Jesus, during the prophesied seven-year Tribulation!
Efrain Rodriguez said the impact of his prophesied asteroid would cause multitudes of people to be killed in Puerto Rico, Europe and mainland United States. Rodriguez said that the asteroid would cause earthquakes and destructive floods from the sea. He gives a very detailed description about the destruction caused by his prophesied asteroid of judgment. The following quote is part of the prophecy given by Rodriguez claiming that there is an approaching asteroid to fulfill his prophecy:
“God showed me a large rock, an Asteroid, entering the airspace of the town of Arecibo in Puerto Rico, and exiting Mayagüez, heading to the ocean. This will be at 2am. This rock will be making impact in the sea between the island of Mona and Mayagüez. It will hit an active earthquake fault found in that area of the Caribbean, causing a very strong 12 point earthquake that has never been seen. 12 degrees means the Presence of God on the Earth.” (1)
Is there any truth connected to the asteroid prophecy given by Rodriguez? Yes, there is some truth connected to the asteroid prophecy. Rodriguez said that the asteroid judgment is coming because the church has become so corrupt. He said that the church is filled with adulterers and pastors who want tithes and offerings. Also, all kinds of sins are polluting Puerto Rico and other places in the world. Is this a true statement about the condition of the church and the people of the world?
It certainly appears that there is sexual perversion everywhere, including in the churches. Especially, some of the mega-churches are filled with adultery. Many of these churches, like Rick Warren’s church, have dancing girls who are half dressed. This would certainly cause many to be tempted to commit adultery. One of the latest ungodly dances at Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church is called the Harlem Shake. It is a very lustful orientated and demonic dance. The music of many churches has become like the ungodly rock and roll music of night clubs.
Many pastors have made their church a business so that they can stuff their personal bank accounts with gullible church member’s money. Does this mean that tithe and offerings are wrong? Absolutely not! The Scriptures clearly teach that tithes and offerings are proper methods of giving in the church. But, sadly, many of the corrupt church leaders are mishandling the money, and even stealing it.
So we can see that Rodriguez told the truth about the state of many corrupt churches. But, this does not prove that Rodriguez is a prophet of God. It simply proves that he has observed the corrupt state of many churches.
Also, Rodriguez said that the asteroid judgment is coming because of the way America is treating Israel so badly. Is it true that America is treating Israel wrong? Yes, this is also true. The government of America is trying to force Israel to divide the land, with the Arabs, that God promised to the Jews. These Arabs who are trying to claim the Promised Land of Israel are falsely called Palestinians. Our present government has at times withheld weapons from Israel that are needed to protect themselves defensively or offensively.
Again, we can see that Rodriguez told the truth about America’s mistreatment of Israel. Just because Rodriguez stated the truth of how America has mistreated Israel does not make him a prophet of God either. If God did not tell him about a coming asteroid of judgment, this would mean that his prophecy is a lie even though he told the truth about the corrupt condition of the world. Remember, a half truth is whole lie!
Will this asteroid judgment come to the Earth because of these sins noted by the self-proclaimed prophet Rodriguez? Certainly, judgment will come for all of these sins in the future. The Scriptures tell us that all sin must be judged. Therefore, does this mean that Rodriguez is a prophet from God and that his asteroid prophecy will come true?
Even though Rodriguez told the truth about the state of the church and the mistreatment of Israel, we will discover that he is a false prophet! He has not been given a message from God. The Scriptures plainly say that if someone claims to be God’s prophet and just one of their prophecies fail to come true, they are a false prophet.
Deuteronomy 18:20-22 “But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. 21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? 22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.”
Here in Deuteronomy we are told plainly that if someone even speaks once as a prophet of God without really being commanded by God they are to die according to Old Testament law, Deuteronomy 18:20.
How can we know if Rodriguez is a true or false prophet of God? Deuteronomy 18:21
According to the Scriptures, everything that he prophesied must come true. The Scriptures plainly tell us that even if a prophet gets ninety-nine things right and one of his prophecies fails to come true he is a false prophet, Deuteronomy 18:22.
Have any prophecies of Rodriguez ever failed? After researching the past prophecies of Rodriguez, we find that it appears he has had failed prophecies. Remember, just one false prophecy makes him a false prophet who cannot be trusted.
“It is significant that Rodriguez has in the past stated precise dates for his apocalypse (in 2013 and 2014) but these have passed by without incident. Rodriguez has also predicted other events, notably the death of one of his critics, but none of these have happened either.” (2)
We have to take the word of those who watched a video on the internet where Rodriguez prophesied that the asteroid would strike in 2013 and then 2014. This video has been removed from the internet, apparently to cover up the false prophecy. In his prophecies of 2015 about the approaching judgment asteroid, it appears that Rodriguez is avoiding being called a false prophet by refusing to name a date for the doomsday disaster asteroid. The video site on the internet where Rodriguez was accused of naming dates for the impending asteroid is no longer available. Since this prophecy of the asteroid striking in 2013 or 2014 did not happen, this makes Rodriguez a false prophet.
“When will all this happen? In the Prophecy Club talk he wisely avoids getting into date-setting. His response to the timing question is simply ‘at any time.’ Nevertheless, in a later interview on Puerto Rico Chanel 25, he said ‘este ano’/‘this year’ a few times. [You can search the internet and find this information, if you find it necessary.] [If you do find it,] (notice the interviewer face palming in response a couple times!). In other words, he is on record that the asteroid will happen in 2014.” (3)
But, since we did not see the video where he made the prophecy about the 2013 or 2014 asteroid, we will examine his prophecies even further. This self-proclaimed prophet, Rodriguez, also, said that one of his critics would die by September, 2014.
“… he predicted the death of a Puerto Rican critic of his, Jorge Raschke, by September, 2014. [This video can be seen on the internet in Spanish]. Jorge Raschke is still very much alive.” (4)
Since this video is in Spanish and we do not know Spanish, I will have to take the word of Jorge Raschke who wrote on the internet that he is still alive. Unless the internet has a way for people beyond the grave to write, Jorge Raschke is still alive and kicking. He was said to have written the following about his well-being on the internet.
“[Someone commented on a video on the internet]. Shared publicly – [on September 8, 2014].
This was [written] by Jorge Raschke, who’s expected to die by the 1st of September 2014, for rejecting Efrain Rodriguez prophecy as false!
‘The last I heard he’s alive and well! And may the Lord continue to keep him alive and well until He comes in the Rapture!…’ Blessings, Jorge Raschke” (5)
Since Jorge Raschke is apparently alive, this makes the self-proclaimed prophet, Efrain Rodriguez, a false prophet according to clearly stated Bible guidelines for determining whether a prophet is a true or false prophet of God. One failed prophecy makes him a false prophet. Therefore, we are not to believe any prophecies that he makes.
Besides that, we are told that it is a terrible sin to add anything to end time prophecy. This is exactly what false prophet Efrain Rodriguez is doing. You can be sure that God does not give anything for people to prophesy in our present days since He forbids anyone adding to the completed prophecy of the book of Revelation. The false prophet Rodriguez belongs to the Pentecostal religion according to what we could find. They are well known for claiming to be prophets. They follow after the teaching of the carnal Corinthians who were baby Christians. Also, most, if not all, Pentecostals are trusting in their own good deeds and lack of bad deeds to keep themselves saved. We cannot trust anyone claiming to be a prophet of God in our present days. There is no need for a prophet in this present church age because prophecy was completed for us when the Bible was completed. At the most, there are those surrendered Christians who can understand and explain the completed prophecy of the Bible because God gives them more spiritual discernment. When a person starts making up new prophecies that are not in the Bible, we know that he is a false prophet.
Revelation 22:18-19 “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
The self-proclaimed false prophet, Rodriguez, also said this was a judgment mostly for the corruption in the church. He says it will happen before the Translation / Rapture of the church. This prophesied asteroid judgment would affect the whole Earth, like the flood in Noah’s days. Even though believers are sometimes allowed to suffer terrible persecutions, Noah and his family, who were believers in the coming Saviour, Jesus, were in the Ark of safety above the judgment. God protected them. Before any major judgment takes place, like the false prophet Rodriguez is predicting, it appears that the church will be taken above the judgment in the Rapture. Jesus is our Ark of safety. He will take us out and up before major judgment falls on this Earth.
In Revelation chapter six, we read where Jesus opens the book of judgment that starts the prophesied seven-year Tribulation. After this, multitudes of people will die on Earth as different judgments are announced and carried out.
Just before the Tribulation, Christians will be Translated / Raptured to Heaven. Christians will be judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Therefore, we need to make sure that we are as holy as we can be after we are saved. Remember, our salvation does not depend on us keeping clean, but we will lose rewards that we could have gained if we do not live as holy as we should. There are plenty of reasons for doing right if you are saved.
2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
Things similar to and worse than what the false prophet Rodriguez is prophesying will happen during the prophesied seven-year Tribulation. But, the truth is if you die without trusting Jesus as your Saviour, before these prophesied judgments on Earth, you will lift up your eyes in Hell. The Tribulation judgments will be like a Sunday picnic in comparison to the fiery torments of Hell. Then at the appointed time you will be taken out of Hell to be judged for your works to determine how much you will suffer in the final Lake of Fire. This will not be a chance to get out of everlasting punishment but to determine how bad your punishment will be. Repent and believe on Jesus as your Saviour today before you enter into the coming Tribulation or before you die. Once you die the final judgment of everlasting doom is certain. The final judgment for the lost will be at the Great White Throne of God. Let us know if you call on Jesus for salvation.
Revelation 20:11-12 “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
Revelation 20:14-15 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
