God’s promise revealed in the rainbow has nothing to do with anyone’s pride about their sexual actions. Since people are again very prideful and lustful, as in the days of Noah, it appears that we are in the last days just before Jesus returns. Pride is a form of disobedience against God. “Pride goeth before destruction”, Proverbs 16:18. In fact, if people want God’s blessings, they must be humble and obedient to God’s Word. The rainbow reminds us how God humbled sinful, disobedient, prideful people with a world-wide judgment by flood. Even those people who refuse to bow before God while they are on this Earth will be forced to humbly bow before Him at the judgment, Romans 14:11. God gave those proud people before the flood, in Noah’s days, 120 years to humble themselves. But, they refused to humble themselves. Therefore, God’s mercy ran out and a drastic judgment of death swept across the world by flood. Since people are becoming very wicked, it appears that judgment will come soon. Satan knows that his time is limited and he is working hard to draw people into lust. In these last times, Christians must be prepared to stand strong against temptations!
1 John 2:12-16 “I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. 13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. 14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
When a person gets saved, born-again, they are often excited, like a little child, because they realize that all of their sins have been forgiven because of the work of Jesus on the cross. People are considered little children spiritually when they are first saved. Proud sinners humble themselves admitting that they deserve Hell, and they humbly trust on Jesus to save them from that penalty of sin, 1 John 2:12.
The fathers represent people who have been saved for the longest period of time. Young men represent those who have been saved long enough to overcome sins that the Wicked One, Satan, tempts them with. But, thankfully all three of these groups know that they have eternal life in Heaven, with the Father, because they received Jesus as their personal Saviour. 1 John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 2:13.
The Word of God can humble the proud sinner. The Word of God gives the saved person strength to overcome every sin temptation that the Devil throws at them, 1 John 2:14.
We are commanded in the Scriptures not to love the world or the things in the world. We are living in a time when people are very humanistic. Instead of people learning God’s lesson from the rainbow, they pervert the meaning of the rainbow. The rainbow is simply a reminder that God will never destroy the whole earth or all flesh with a flood again. People are seeking perverted sexual pleasures and other things that are forbidden by God. The Scriptures tell us we must make a choice. We cannot love both worldly pleasures and God. In fact, it says if we choose to love the pleasures of this world, we do not love God, 1 John 2:15.
Perverted sexual lust satisfies the flesh. People are choosing to go against the clear teaching of God’s Word and seek to fulfill the lust of the flesh. Movies, bill boards and the internet are trashed with things that appeal to the lust of the eyes. In our modern days, people believe that they have all kinds of rights enforced by immoral laws. These immoral rights encourage lustful people to have the pride of life instead of humility. Satan encourages people to look at lustful, sexual, pictures and in their pride they act on their lust to satisfy the flesh, 1 John 2:16.
2 Peter 2:5 “And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;”
God did not judge the ungodly world without warning. No doubt, the people before the flood tried to justify their sins. But, God sent Noah, a preacher of righteousness, to warn them of coming judgment if they did not repent. They probably even had laws that approved of their wicked lusts. But, just because governments and people approve of immoral actions, it does not mean that God will overlook them. God is merciful, but God is also holy. Because God is holy, He cannot allow sin to go on without judgment. It appears that Noah preached for 120 years while he and his sons built the ark. At the end of 120 years of righteous preaching by Noah, God’s mercy ended, and judgment by flood came upon the whole Earth. Governments are making immoral laws today that oppose God’s Word. You can be certain that God’s mercy is fast coming to an end and judgment will fall on the lustful people of this world.
Genesis 6:3 “And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.”
We noticed that the sodomite’s rainbow flag only has six colors. Six is the number of man. But, man is a sinner who needs God’s perfection to make him perfect for Heaven. The sodomites are trying to live without God’s perfection, as portrayed in their imperfect colored rainbow flag. A full rainbow, as set in the clouds by God, has seven colors to remind us that we need God’s perfection to enter Heaven. When we repent and believe on Jesus as our personal Saviour, God counts us as righteous, without sin.
It is a little hard to see all seven colors in a rainbow because the conditions need to be perfect. Also they are not real defined. The colors tend to blur together. The colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue (light blue), indigo (dark blue), and violet (purple). Blue is the color of Israel. Notice the seven colors in the rainbow below.
“Have you ever seen a rainbow? Sometimes when the sun is shining and it is rainy somewhere at the same time, you can see a rainbow. It’s a huge arch of colours in the sky. It’s caused by the light from the sun being broken up by water droplets in the atmosphere. The sun’s light is “white”, but the water droplets break it up into seven different colours, always in this order:” (1)
Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
Proverbs 16:17-20 “The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. 18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. 19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. 20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.”
