Both Jews and Gentiles should be thankful that the blood of God was shed to purchase us from the penalty of our sins, Isaiah 53. Nothing but the blood of Jesus can wash away our sins. Animal sacrifices could not permanently take away sins. There are pictures of the precious blood of Jesus throughout the Old Testament.
Acts 20:28 “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he [Jesus/God] hath purchased with his [Jesus/God] own blood.”
You are blessed if you have been purchased by God’s blood. God purchased the church of God with His own blood. The blood of God is also the only payment for sins acceptable to God for the Jews and Gentiles who lived before the church began. Those people who believed the Scriptures looked forward to the day when the blood of Jesus would be shed for their sins. No one has ever been saved from Hell by keeping the law of God. We all fall short because we are sinners who break God’s laws.
The very blood of God ran through the body of Jesus. The shed blood of Jesus is the final and only payment that God required for the penalty of sins. Just because you are born a Jew or Gentile, it does not guarantee that you will be a part of God’s kingdom. In the present church age, every person must be born again to be in God’s Kingdom. Each individual person must repent of their sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour. This is how the blood of Jesus is applied to our sins. Belonging to a synagogue or church cannot wash away our sins. Water baptism or any other ceremony cannot wash away our sins. Only the blood of Jesus can wash away our sins, Revelation 1:5. We have so much to be thankful for, especially if we have been purchased by the blood of Jesus, Acts 20:28.
1 Peter 1:18-19 “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of [Jesus] Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”
Money and traditions cannot purchase us from the bondage of sin. Only the precious blood of Jesus can redeem us from the penalty of our sins. The blood of Jesus was not corrupted by sins. Jesus is sinless, “without blemish and without spot”.
Hebrews 9:12 “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his [Jesus’] own blood he [Jesus] entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”
The blood of goats and calves could not redeem us from the bondage of sin. But, the shed blood of Jesus, “obtained eternal redemption for us”. Animal sacrifices in the Old Testament were only temporary. They were pictures of the only sacrifice that could purchase us from the bondage of sin. Jesus was the final sacrifice for our sins.
Exodus 12:21-23 “Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. 22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. 23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.”
The Lamb for Passover pictured the true Passover Lamb, Jesus. Jesus had to die and shed His blood so that we would not face spiritual death in Hell. Jesus took our judgment, Exodus 12:21; 1 Corinthians 5:7.
Just as the door lintel and two sided posts had to have blood applied to prevent death to those inside, the blood of Jesus must be applied to our sins to escape the second death in the Lake of Fire, Exodus 12:22.
The destroyer will smite those who have not applied the blood of Jesus to cover their sins. There will be no escape from death in the Lake of Fire without the blood of the Lamb, Jesus, being applied.
Many people try to cover their sins with good deeds. Good deeds cannot atone for our sins. Many people accept a false salvation when they can have a real salvation through the blood of Jesus. In Spain, many of the people thought that the water in the fountains had turned to blood. This blood red water is displayed in the first picture of this article.
“Residents of several villages in northwest Spain received an unpleasant surprise last fall, when they noticed that the water in their fountains had turned a gory shade of red. The tint wasn’t left behind by a guilty murderer’s bloody hands, but rather by microscopic algae that arrived in a recent rainfall.” (1)
Many people were deceived in Spain by the blood red algae. Just because something seems real, that does not make it real. Without the shedding of the blood of Jesus, there is no remission of sins. Many religions have deceived people with a false salvation plan. These false salvations plans do not include the blood of Jesus. If the blood of Jesus is not applied to our sins, we would still be lost in our sins.
Romans 3:24-25 “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”
God is willing to count us just as if we have never sinned. Justification is a free gift from God. Even though we do not deserve to be justified, God is willing to show us grace. We cannot redeem ourselves from the penalty of our sins. Only Jesus Christ can redeem us from our sins, Romans 3:24.
Jesus Christ was sent to the cross to be our propitiation. Jesus sacrificed Himself for our sins. He took our place. The shed blood of Jesus applied to our sins causes God not to carry out wrath against us. We must put our faith in the saving power of the blood of Jesus. We are declared righteous if the blood of Jesus is applied to our sins. All of our sins are remitted because of the blood of Jesus. We are pardoned from the sentence of everlasting death in the Lake of Fire. Even though we, as sinners, deserve Hell, God is very patient with us. He has provided the perfect and only plan of salvation through the blood of Jesus. We are truly blessed! Be sure to receive God’s blessing of salvation during this time of giving thanks. There are many blessings in the blood of Jesus! Count your blessings!
