The normal moon, including the super moon, is material evidence proclaimed by God to prove that Israel will continue to be a nation blessed by God. On November 14th 2016, we watched a beautiful super moon that God put in the second heaven to give us light in the night. A full moon is called a super moon when it appears larger and brighter because it has orbited closer to the Earth than it normally does. We had the opportunity to take several pictures and videos of this amazing super moon. This picture in the post was taken in the morning when the sun reflected brighter on the super moon! The moon has not orbited this close to the Earth since 1948.
The super moon was a wonderful reminder of how God caused Israel to become a nation once again on May 14, 1948, Isaiah 66:8-12. There are many false teachers who claim that God has cast Israel aside forever. But the LORD said, just as sure as the moon, stars and sun are in existence, Israel will continue to exist. God who had the power to create the moon also has the power to keep the nation of Israel in existence. The moon, stars, and the sun are God’s heavenly signature of His promise to protect and bless the nation of Israel.
Just as the super moon brought brighter light in the night over Israel, God wants to bring light to the spiritually dark, sinful souls of both Jews and Gentiles, 2 Peter 1:19-21. Psalms 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Jeremiah 31:35-36 “Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: 36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.”
God made the sun, moon and stars on the fourth day, Genesis 1:15-19. The sun, moon and stars are called ordinances. An ordinance is a rule established by an authority.
God is the supreme and holy authority who has given us many ordinances/rules in the Scriptures to live by. Because we are all sinners, we all fail to obey all of God’s rules. Therefore, we cannot enter Heaven by obeying God’s laws. Jesus kept all of God’s laws so that we could repent of our sins and believe on Jesus as our personal Saviour to enter God’s Kingdom in eternity. Since God created us, we should try to live by His rules. Obeying God’s rules shows God that we appreciate the gift of eternal life that He has provided for us, Romans 6:23.
God also is the creative authority who set the moon and sun in the second heaven to rule. The sun was made by God to rule the day. The moon was made by God to rule the night. The stars also give us light in darkness. The moon, including the super moon, continues to affect the tides of the oceans and other bodies of water. God in His scientific wisdom has set the moon in place to move the oceans as He sees fit.
Of course, God does not have to use the moon to move the oceans. God can move them by His mighty power. This is exactly what God did when He parted the Red Sea to save Israel from the wicked Egyptians. God allowed all the Jews fleeing from Egypt to cross the parted Red Sea safely. But, Pharaoh and his army were killed by God for trying to harm the Jews of Israel. The Red Sea became a water grave for the Egyptian enemies of the Jews!
God’s many different names often show His character and plans. God is called the “LORD of hosts”. The Jews were God’s hosts even when they were slaves in Egypt, Exodus 12:41-42. This means that Israel was God’s guests. Since God created the whole world, He can allow His guests, the Jews, to stay anywhere that He chooses. God chose the land of Israel to be the final home of the Jews. When the enemies of Israel mess with God’s guests, the Jews, they are asking for God’s wrath against them. Israel was enslaved in Egypt because of their continued rebellion against God. God has continually refined Israel so that a Jewish remnant will be saved to rule with King Jesus in His future thousand-year reign from Israel. This Jewish remnant will be Jews who have repented of their sins and believed on Jesus as their Saviour. Jesus is the God of the armies of Israel, 1 Samuel 17:45-46. The power of God fighting for the armies of Israel has been displayed many times. God is the LORD of hosts. The Jews have often been greatly outnumbered, but by the power of God, Israel defeated their enemies who were intending to wipe the Jews off the face of the Earth, Jeremiah 31:35.
God’s miraculous signature guaranteeing Israel’s protection is displayed in the second heaven for the whole world to see. His unique signature is in the form of the heavenly bodies that give us light during the day and night. They are like dots at the end of a sentence! God created the ordinances of the moon, sun, and the stars. God challenges His enemies to take the moon, sun, and stars out of the second heaven. In fact, God says that if the moon, sun, and stars depart from before Him Israel will cease from being a nation forever. This is God’s triple guarantee that the nation of Israel will not cease to exist. Even if the enemies of God and Israel could send a bomb to the moon and destroy it, Israel would continue to be a nation under God’s triple ordinance guarantee. Of course, the moon’s destruction would cause a great disaster on the Earth. But for Israel to cease to exist as a nation, the moon, the sun, and the stars would all have to depart from God. Jesus created all three of these ordinances in the second heaven, Colossians 1:12-17. God will hold them in their place as He sees fit, and the enemies of the nation of Israel can not make them depart from where God wants them to be. If God chooses, He can shut the light off from the moon, sun, and stars easier than flipping a light switch. The enemies of the nation of Israel can not shut off the lights of these heavenly ordinances. According to God’s heavenly ordinance guarantee, Israel will continue to be a nation even if the whole world turns against the Jews.
Since Israel became a nation, their enemies have continually tried to wipe the Jews off the face of the Earth. When the Roman army, led by Titus, destroyed Israel in 70 A.D., it appeared that Israel would cease to be a nation forever. But, true to God’s Word, He brought Israel back as a nation again on May 14, 1948. Just before Israel became a nation in 1948, the Devil used Hitler in a violent attempt to wipe every Jew off the face of the Earth. Sadly, Hitler caused the murderous death of many Jews during the Jewish holocaust, but the evil villain failed to wipe all of the Jews out of existence. God drew many of these Jews back to the land of Israel to establish the nation of Israel once again. God will continue to use His power to protect Israel in the future.
God’s promise that Israel would continue to exist as a nation is written many times in many different ways in the Scriptures. Make sure your name is written in God’s Book of Life. Repenting of your sins and believing on Jesus Christ as your Saviour will guarantee that your name is written in the Book of Life. If your name is not written in the Book of Life at the final judgment, you will be cast into the Lake of Fire!
