An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) could take place in the future to help fulfill prophecy in Revelation and other prophetic books of the Bible. A world-wide electromagnetic pulse (EMP) in the future could destroy all modern electronics and electrical grids. The letters EMP are sometimes written to represent electromagnetic pulse. Because of the United States, and other superpower nation’s dependence on electronics and electricity, the loss of electronics and electricity would most likely lead to world-wide disaster. An electromagnetic pulse can be caused by a nuclear explosion, lightening, or a solar flare. It appears that the world will be forced back into the dark ages, electronically, during the prophesied seven-year Tribulation. During the prophesied Tribulation, wars will be fought using horses instead of tanks, jeeps, planes and helicopters. When electronics fail, advanced nations, like the United States and Israel, will have to depend on God to survive. Those who do not depend on God for survival during the Tribulation will face disaster without hope.
Nuclear explosions, lightening, and solar flares may interact with many things, including electric and magnetic fields, causing an electromagnetic pulse. An electromagnetic pulse is a short but powerful burst of energy that can destroy electronics and electrical grids when it comes in contact with them.
When God created everything, He set many things in motion, such as electrical and magnetic fields. Lightening and solar flares capable of causing an electromagnetic pulse are normal events that may have resulted from creation. Since it appears that it did not rain before the flood and Adam and Eve were protected from extreme heat, maybe lightening striking the Earth and solar flares affecting the Earth are a result of the curse of sin. But, an electromagnetic pulse caused by a nuclear explosion can be the result of one nation trying to harm another nation.
A planned nuclear explosion resulting in an electromagnetic pulse over a high-tech country, like the United States, could set us back to the dark ages. An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) nuclear explosion detonated at about 300 miles above the United States could wipe out all electronics and electrical grids in the continental United States. The affect of a high altitude nuclear electromagnetic pulse is displayed on the chart above. Enemy countries, such as Russia and China, are capable of causing a nation-wide nuclear electromagnetic pulse in the United States. It also appears that Iran and North Korea, the archenemies of the United States, may also be prepared to attack the United States with a nuclear electromagnetic pulse.
In a Senate meeting, in the United States, various scientists described the results of a nation-wide electromagnetic pulse caused by a nuclear explosion. One scientist said that a terrorist country could position a nuclear explosion at the right altitude and position resulting in the total destruction of all electronic and electrical equipment in the United States. Since we are not prepared for a nation-wide electromagnetic pulse, it could bring us to our knees, electronically, for years. Communication systems would be instantly wiped out. Businesses would close down. There would be a world-wide financial collapse. Food would rot because there would no longer be working refrigeration. Transportation would come to a stop due to the fact that gas pumped by electricity would not be available. Water, which is necessary for life, would become very hard to get. Society would break down very quickly when people start getting hungry. There are those who would steal and murder to survive. Any nation affected by an electromagnetic pulse would soon be in a state of disaster. Since many of the third-world countries depend on superpowers, such as the United States, for food, they would also be dramatically affected by an electromagnetic pulse disaster in the United States.
At the beginning of the prophesied seven-year Tribulation, Jesus, the Lamb, will open a sealed book revealing the prophesied seven-year Tribulation. It is apparent that many of the things described in Revelation 6 are supernatural, but nuclear explosions causing electromagnetic pulses could also be included at the beginning of the Tribulation. World peace will erupt into world-wide war as nations attack each other with deadly intent. The four horsemen of the Tribulation will bring death to one-fourth of the Earth’s population.
Revelation 6:1-8 “And I saw when the Lamb [Jesus] opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. 2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow [weapon of destruction]; and a crown [king’s crown] was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer [world-wide war]. 3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. 4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another [Nations attacking each other—maybe nuclear attacks causing electromagnetic pulses]: and there was given unto him a great sword. 5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances [financial scale] in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. [A nuclear war, including electromagnetic pulses, could lead to a shortage of food.] 7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. 8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth [War leads to death in many ways].”
Lightening can cause a destructive electromagnetic pulse, as already stated. An electromagnetic pulse from lightening can be so powerful that it ruins all electronics and electrical systems that it comes into contact with. We know someone whose house was struck with an electromagnetic pulse from lightening. It destroyed the whole electrical system in the house and every electronic device that was plugged into the electricity. In fact, a pulse from lightening can cause great physical damage. Lightening can kill people and destroy buildings. Sometimes cars and other vehicles are struck by lightening causing them to explode into a ball of flames. Part of the judgment during the prophesied seven-year Tribulation will be lightening striking on the Earth. These lightening strikes could lead to electromagnetic pulses all over the Earth, leading to disaster. Just before the seven angels sound the seven trumpets, we see that lightening is used as a judgment on Earth.
Revelation 8:5 “And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.”
Again in Revelation 16, we see lightening is part of the judgment poured out by the seventh angel in the vial judgments. This lightening could very well cause electromagnetic pulses leading to destruction and death.
Revelation 16:17-18 “And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. 18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.”
Besides the possibility of electromagnetic pulses caused by nuclear explosions and lightening during the Tribulation, it appears that there could be solar flare electromagnetic pulses. Solar storms caused by solar flares coming from the sun could cause men to be scorched with fire, as described by the fourth angel pouring out his vial upon the sun. This will not be a natural occurring event, but the angel will use the sun to bring devastation to unrepentant sinners on Earth. If there is any remaining electronics or electrical systems at that time, solar flares could destroy them with an electromagnetic pulse.
Revelation 16:8-9 “And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.”
There are those who do not believe Bible prophecy is literal. They deceitfully symbolize all prophecy away until it is no longer a miracle performed by God. They falsely say that the horses at the Battle of Armageddon are symbolic of jeeps, tanks etc. We have not heard what these false teachers say the birds, that eat these horses (jeeps, tanks etc.) and evil men, represent. But, we would suppose that these false teachers would say that the flesh-eating birds represent something like the big crane claws that can be seen in metal junk yards. Crane claws can be used to pick up scrap metal and put it into metal smashing machines. In that case, the men that are eaten by the birds must be metal androids. Not! This symbolizing of real birds, people and horses is the Devil’s lie. Unless Bible prophecy is indicated to be symbolic, no one has a right to symbolize it.
But, to the Bible believer, it is apparent that these will be real birds eating the flesh of real horses and soldiers. It really would be a miracle if birds could eat metal jeeps and tanks! But, this is not the case! It will be buzzards eating the flesh of horses and their rebellious, God-hating riders. It is apparent that one disaster after another will force the armies of the world to use horses and other beasts of burden during the prophesied Tribulation. Various electromagnetic pulses and other things could very well lead to nations of the world using horses in Tribulation battles. King Jesus and His army will also be on horseback as they march in victory against the enemies of God.
Revelation 19:17-19 “And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. 19 And I saw the beast [Anti-Christ], and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him [Jesus] that sat on the horse, and against his [Jesus’] army.”
In the Battle of Armageddon, all nations will fight against Israel. If the United States is still in existence at that time, this means that they will also turn on Israel like a rabid dog.
Zechariah 14:2-3 “For I will gather all nations [including the United States if it still exists] against Jerusalem to battle; and the city [Jerusalem] shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the [Jewish] women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people [Jews] shall not be cut off from the city [Jerusalem]. 3 Then shall the LORD [Jesus] go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
But, the Jews of Israel will be saved when King Jesus and His army rescues them. Sadly, many people, including Jews, have no hope because they reject Jesus. But, Jesus can bring hope to those who repent of their sins and believe on Him as their Saviour. Do not wait until the Battle of Armageddon to call on Jesus to save you! It may be too late! If you die before that time without being saved, it will be too late for you!
Zechariah 13:8-9 “And it shall come to pass, that in all the land [Israel], saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die [During the Tribulation two thirds of the Jews will be killed]; but the third shall be left therein [One third of the Jews during the Tribulation will not die]. 9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they [Jews] shall call on my name [Jesus], and I [Jesus] will hear them [The remaining one third of the Jews will believe on Jesus and be saved]: I [Jesus] will say, It is my people [Jews]: and they shall say, The LORD [Jesus] is my God.”
