People have been seeking the Fountain of Youth since the beginning of mankind. Of course, these same people who sought to live forever also desired to be disease-free! Certainly, they also wanted their babies and older children to be disease-free. Most people admire the energy of babies and youth. There is a legend that Ponce de León, in the 1500’s, was seeking the Fountain of Youth to restore his youth. It is claimed that he discovered the Fountain of Youth in Saint Augustine, Florida.
My family and I traveled to that area a few years back and caught a glimpse of the Fountain of Youth. It was after hours when we were in Saint Augustine. Therefore, we did not get to drink any of the famous water of legends! Yes, I am still getting older! We do not have the opportunity to start over as babies. But, that really does not matter because we already drank of the water of eternal life!
Eve was the first to be deceived into thinking that she could eat fruit to achieve eternal life and be like a god! Others have believed that water could give them eternal life. Satan, like a deadly serpent, has hissed out this damning lie of eternal youth since the beginning of time.
Genesis 3:1-5 “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
Eve’s lust for eternal life, without God, led to the curse of disease and death. Adam followed Eve by eating the forbidden fruit in disobedience. From that point on, all of mankind came under a curse from God. Sin has even marred human babies. If Adam and Eve would have refused to swallow Satan’s lie about godhood without God, their children would have been conceived and born disease-free. Since Adam and Eve’s fall, mankind has continually sought disease-free eternal youth.
People seek eternal youth in many different forms. My Jewish brothers and sisters sell products developed from the Dead Sea to achieve a youthful look. I certainly do not object to that. I think that everyone should try to look their best. Old people desire to have a babies face again. I have purchased many of these Dead Sea products from my Jewish brothers and sisters. Please do the same!
Beware! There are multi-million dollar businesses out there trying to sell you false hope of eternal youth with their products. You can be sure that you will never achieve eternal youth by eating fruit, drinking water, or using man-made products. We are all under a curse that leads to disease and death. The very food and water that we consume is under a curse. These things all contribute to disease and death! The potential to produce diseased children is even in our DNA. Our children can inherit disease from our genetic code that is corrupted by the curse that is on mankind.
Genesis 3:17-19 “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
Even when Jesus was on earth, people sought to achieve eternal youth and relief from disease. According to the Scriptures, the Pool of Bethesda really did have the power to heal disease when an angel came and gave it the power to heal. But, Jesus has the power to heal anytime that He desires to do so. He demonstrated this when He healed the diseased man at the pool. Most likely, this man’s parents wished that their son was disease-free. But, the truth is, even if a person gets healed of a disease, they are still going to die someday because of the curse on mankind. Have scientists finally discovered a method to have disease-free babies, by design? Is it possible to break the cycle of the curse on mankind by producing disease-free babies in the science lab? It appears that scientists think this is possible!
John 5:2-9 “Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. 5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? 7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. 8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. 9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.”
The Age of the Genetically Modified, Designer Baby has Arrived!
Genetically inherited disease sometimes develops in newly conceived babies in the womb of their mother. Scientists believe that they have engineered a way to eliminate genetically inherited disease from babies, even before conception. No doubt, some people may see this as a break though leading to eternal youth. Should these innocent disease-ridden babies receive freedom from the curse of disease? Probably most every parent hopes that their child will be born whole and healthy. Scientists have pushed through all ethical barriers to achieve this dream of every parent! Of course, this is because most of these scientists believe that people are simply a product of evolution. Their ultimate goal is to advance man on the false evolutionary scale toward godhood and eternal youth! Satan is the master-mind behind this misconceived plan. His evil ambition is to destroy God’s eternal plan for each individual person. It appears that mankind is striving to achieve eternal life without God!
Are scientists on the pathway that will lead to eternal youth without God? The following diagram illustrates one method of how disease-free designer-babies could be developed with three parents. In this case, the father’s sperm is introduced to the mother’s egg before the donor’s egg is used:
Children With DNA From 3 Parents!
Scientists declare these designer-babies will be developed by using three parents to achieve their goal of disease-free babies. Scientists have determined that only the mother supplies the mitochondria DNA, and sometimes this mitochondria DNA are corrupted. Controlling energy and metabolism in a person is a big part of what mitochondria does. In a way, it is sort of like what a battery and regulator do in a car. The mitochondria are the powerhouse of a cell. Defective mitochondria can transfer diseased DNA to the newly conceived child. To eliminate diseased mitochondria, a healthy woman’s egg would be donated. Her disease-free mitochondria DNA would be left in place, and the nuclear DNA of the donor’s egg would be replaced from the mother’s egg. This mother would carry the baby to birth. Before placing the egg into the mother’s womb, the father’s sperm would be introduced to the engineered, disease-free egg. This method varies slightly from the method in the diagram. Scientists say that the nuclear DNA contributes to most of the characteristics of a child. As a result, they say, generally the child would be the same, but they would be disease-free. Nevertheless, they would have the DNA of three parents. These disease-free designer-babies may sound good to a parent who wants a healthy child. But, there are several problems with these genetically manipulated designer-babies that a God-fearing person cannot avoid!
The first problem with disease-free designer-babies is that it is a stepping stone to designing other characteristics of babies in the womb. Also, it encourages improper scientific experiment on people. It is a slippery slope. Some think medical science is advancing for the good, but in truth, science could be headed down the same path that Hitler’s evil scientists did during the Holocaust of the Jews! They committed horrific crimes against humanity in the name of science. The scientists and doctors working under the orders of Hitler performed many inhuman experiments on Jewish people. Hitler was striving to design a super race of humans. It appears that the ultimate goal of modern day scientists is to develop people who will live forever. God does not fit into their scientific formula! Many of these scientists will have no problem advising doctors to abort a baby if their experiment goes wrong. When a man begins to play God, he will not have a problem murdering, by abortion, those children who seem inferior.
The second problem with disease-free designer-babies is that there are many things that scientists and doctors still do not understand about DNA. Therefore, changing the DNA to conceive a healthy child could backfire. The child with three parent’s DNA could turn out to be a freak, or something terrible may happen to them as a result of having three parent’s DNA. Scientists do not know the long-term result of this Frankenstein experimental science. This DNA transfer may cause worse problems than the original disease that they tried to avoid in the child. There could potentially be many unforeseen bad side effects to a child with a three parent DNA. Even if the child with a three parent DNA does okay, scientists have no idea what will happen to the offspring of a child who has the DNA of three parents. This risk should not be taken. Many lives could be messed up as the result of trying to save one child from disease! These scientists need to quit playing God with the innocent children!
The third and probably the worst problem is that many of the initial experiments are based on murder. In the early stages of experimenting with a three-parent child, mothers’ eggs were introduced to fathers’ sperm. The resulting children were allowed to grow so many days and then they were terminated. The law required them to be murdered because it was simply considered just a “science experiment”. It was illegal to introduce the newly growing child into a mother’s womb because it had not been approved by the law makers. Those who believe the Scriptures and understand at what point life begins know this is murder.
Life begins at conception when the egg receives the sperm. When anyone terminates these children in the lab or in the mother, this is still cold-blooded murder. It would be wrong for anyone to benefit from these murderous, horrific science experiments. It is just as wrong as benefiting from the horrific experiments that Hitler had performed on the Jewish people and others. This point alone should stop any God-fearing person from accepting this method of disease-free designer-babies!
Scientists can put together an egg and sperm in a lab, but it is God who allows conception. He has a plan for each child who is conceived. When anyone murders a conceived child, they are interfering with God’s plan for that child. Just as God had a plan for Jeremiah, He has a plan for every child whom He allows to be conceived!
Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
Finally, sometimes a physical problem, such as a disease, will benefit the person who has it and others they interact with. The blind man in John 9 is a good example of this. He was born blind, and Jesus healed him. As a result of being healed physically, the man believed on Jesus and received eternal life. No doubt, as a result of receiving his sight, this formally blind man influenced others to trust in Jesus as their own personal Saviour.
Certainly, some people who are disease-free may never come to depend on God and trust in Jesus as Saviour. Disease will keep some people humble. Without disease, this same person may be too proud to come to Jesus. It would be better to be plagued by disease your whole life than to be disease-free and spend eternity in the fires of Hell!
Sometimes, physical infirmities in a person have a purpose in God’s eternal plan. God can use someone with great abilities to serve Him, but He can also use someone with disabilities to serve Him. In our weakness, God displays His strength. God means for us to use doctors and their knowledge, but we need to be careful not to interfere with God’s designed plan for each individual.
Paul, in the Bible, had a physical problem, and he asked God to heal him. God chose not to heal him. Paul was a better servant to God by not being healed.
God could make all babies in the womb disease-free, but He chooses not to do this according to His plan for each individual. Again, I am not against scientists and doctors, but I am against them playing God by interfering with God’s plan.
Both China and the United States abort babies with disabilities, and simply because they do not want the unborn child. This is cold blooded murder! There have been many children born with diseases and other disabilities. Many of these children grow up to benefit mankind greatly. Even if they do not benefit mankind, it is not the place of anyone to murder them. It is God who gives them life, and only God should take that life away, if He sees fit to do so.
God is the master-designer of babies. David tells us that God has a book that contained David’s blueprint even before he was conceived. It appears that God has a book with each and every person’s DNA code written in it. The Bible described DNA long before scientists ever thought about such a thing. The DNA contains everything about the physical part of a person. God adds their soul and spirit to make a complete person. This happens at conception.
David said that God even knew that he was not perfect. Of course, there is not one of us who are perfect either physically or spiritually. This is because we are all born under a curse that started in the Garden of Eden. God has the blueprint of every child who was ever born or who will be born.
God uses these blueprints when it is time, and He designs each child starting even before conception. He designs the egg in the mother and the sperm in the father. Then He continues to carry out His design in the womb. God watches over the design of each person throughout their life until their death.
After death, those who receive Jesus as their personal Saviour will receive a glorified, perfect body, I Corinthians 15. The baby who is conceived in disease will be disease-free. God is the designer of every human from the beginning to the end. His plan is perfect for each person. But, sometimes sinful people interfere with God’s perfect plan. Disease-free designer-babies are Satan’s plan to interfere with God’s plan for mankind. As God-fearing people, it is our place to stand against Satan’s plan to produce disease-free designer-babies!
Psalms 139:13-16 “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”
Have you been seeking the Fountain of Youth? I can tell you where it is! Jesus spoke about the water of eternal life to a Samaritan woman. The Samaritan woman at the well was under the curse of sin. She inherited Adam’s sin nature, just as we all do. She realized that she was spiritually dead and willingly received the water of eternal life. Many people are walking around, but they are dead, spiritually. God offers the water of eternal life to anyone who will receive it. The water that Jesus offers can bring a spiritually dead person to life. The affects of this water of life lasts for eternity. The Holy Spirit will regenerate the spiritually dead soul and spirit of anyone who calls on the name of Jesus with believing faith. Have you drank from the well of eternal life?
John 4:7-14 “There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. 8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) 9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. 11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Dad May Join Two Moms for Disease- Free Designer Babies

“A new technology aimed at eliminating genetic disease in newborns would combine the DNA of three people, instead of just two, to create a child, potentially redrawing ethical lines for designer babies.

The process works by replacing potentially variant DNA in the unfertilized eggs of a hopeful mother with disease-free genes from a donor. U.S. regulators today will begin weighing whether the procedure, used only in monkeys so far, is safe enough to be tested in humans.
Because the process would change only a small, specific part of genetic code, scientists say a baby would largely retain the physical characteristics of the parents. Still, DNA from all three — mother, father and donor — would remain with the child throughout a lifetime, opening questions about long-term effects for this generation, and potentially the next. Ethicists worry that allowing pre-birth gene manipulation may one day lead to build-to-order designer babies.
‘Once you make this change, if a female arises from the process and goes on to have children, that change is passed on, so it’s forever,’ Phil Yeske, chief science officer of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, said by telephone. ‘That’s uncharted territory; we just don’t know what it means. Permanent change of the human germline has never been done before, and we don’t know what will happen in future generations.’
FDA Hearing – The Food and Drug Administration is scheduled today and tomorrow to explore the issue at a meeting, with doctors and researchers scheduled to talk. The FDA will then decide whether to allow scientists at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, who engineered the approach, to move their testing program from macaque monkeys to woman.
Potentially, the procedure may cut off mitochondrial diseases that are passed down through females and occur in about 1 in 4,000 people. One example is Melas syndrome, which causes a person to have continuing small strokes that damage their brains, leading to vision loss, problems with movement, dementia and death, according to the National Institutes of Health.
‘What the FDA needs to think about is that this isn’t a procedure to repair mitochondrial disease,’ said Vamsi Mootha, a professor of systems biology and medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston who studies mitochondrial disorders. ‘It’s designed to prevent disease. It’s designed to offer a woman who’s a carrier for disease more options.’
Shoukhrat Mitalipov, the researcher heading the Oregon team’s work, declined to comment before the FDA meeting.
Monkey Research – In early research, four macaque monkeys were born from the procedure, according to a 2009 report by the Oregon researchers in the journal Nature. They were reported as healthy at age 3.
In October 2012, Nature published reports that the technique had also been used in human egg cells. The resulting embryos were allowed to develop to the blastocyst stage, which usually occurs about five days after fertilization.
About half of the egg cells displayed normal development, the scientists found. Though the procedure is legal in the laboratory, the embryos that result from it can’t be implanted in women without the FDA’s consent, leading to today’s session.
There are two types of DNA: nuclear, which is handed down by both parents, and mitochondria, which only comes from the mother. The technology replaces a donor’s nuclear DNA, which determines things like hair color and intelligence, with the same material from the prospective mother, leaving the healthy mitochondria from the donor in place.
The new lab-made egg is then fertilized with the father’s sperm in vitro and implanted in the mother’s womb.
This isn’t the first time that scientists have attempted to disrupt the actions of mitochondria DNA to help fight disease, or the first time the FDA has considered the issue.
Earlier Method –From 1997 to 2003, about 30 children worldwide were born using a method that injected donor mitochondria DNA into eggs after they were fertilized. The first baby born with this technique was reported in 1997. In 2003, though, the FDA told fertility clinics that genetically manipulated embryos were considered a biological product, and subject to regulation, essentially halting the technique in humans.
The lives of those children should be thoroughly investigated before the new procedure is cleared for use in a human trial, said Sheldon Krimsky, a professor of Urban & Environmental Policy & Planning at Tufts University in Boston.
Ethical Issues –In the 1982 position paper, ‘Splicing Life,’ the President’s Commission for the Study of Ethical Problems in Medicine and Biomedical and Behavioral Research made a distinction between gene therapy that takes place after someone is born compared with manipulation that occurs before, altering the body’s genome.
There was broad consensus that the latter, called germ-line engineering, shouldn’t be pursued, said Krimsky, who was one of the consultants for the paper. That changed ‘starting in the late 1990s, when people started whittling away at that distinction,’ he said in a telephone interview.
‘You’re altering the genome of an unborn child, someone who can’t make a judgment about whether they want to be genetically modified,’ Krimsky said by telephone. ‘What will be next, once you allow this?’
Scientists also are concerned that the procedure may not be safe, according to a paper in September 2013 in the journal Science, whose lead author was evolutionary biologist Klaus Reinhardt at the University of Tuebingen in Germany.
Reinhardt’s paper noted that male mice bred from this technique sometimes had altered breathing, as well as reduced learning and exploring capabilities, according to earlier research. Female mice weren’t tested.
The research in mice suggests that the replacement technique may destroy some lines of communication between mitochondria and the cell’s transplanted nucleus, Reinhardt’s editorial said. Though the macaque monkeys don’t show the same problems, there may be long-term issues from the DNA replacement, he wrote.” (1)
