Mathematical Formula Proves God’s Existence
The existence of a personal God is the most profound idea that an individual can conceive in his mind. There have been many arguments developed in the field called apologetics (a defense of the faith) to prove the existence of God including the universal belief argument and the cause/effect argument. Recently, a scientist claims to have found proof for God mathematically and geographically. What are we to make of this theoretical discovery? What can we rely upon to know for sure the existence of God?
First of all, what is the universal belief argument? It is the understanding that belief in God is ingrained in an individual from birth. It has been said of some of the Himalayan people that, while worshiping idols of a man’s making, many realize, by the immensity of the Himalayan mountain range, that something far greater exists that created such a thing. It is also seen in the fact that mankind seeks, from the beginning of the world, to worship something and to satisfy a spiritual longing. Idols can be found in multiple faiths around the world. People have always been trying to meet God on their terms with a man-centered religion, but a religion nevertheless that includes worship, but not Biblical worship. The Moabites appeased the wrath of a god by offering their children to him, but it was a god of their imagination.
Furthermore, there is the cause/effect argument to prove the existence of God. This vast universe that we live in, and this particular planet that man inhabits, with its design of light, water, oxygen, atmosphere, etc., demonstrates that a God must have created it for the purposes of man, allowing him to be able to live. We think also about the order of the Earth with its constant rotation for the cycle of day and night, along with its rotation around the sun in a period of around 365 days. Other planets in the universe have a similar rotation. Matthew Henry speaks of a “Great order, a mutual dependence of beings, an exact harmony of motions, and an admirable chain and connection of causes” in the universe that demonstrates the existence of a God, who, like a watchmaker, designs a watch. The watch does not just appear; it has a cause behind its existence.
Furthermore, there are other arguments as well, some stronger than others, but a most recent argument is by Israeli scientist Saul Kullook who claims to have found mathematical evidence that God exists that includes “predefined timings for major physical events” involving the people of Israel for the last 3500 years, including the conquering of the land of Canaan under Joshua, the Babylonian exile, and the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. He refers to “the inclination of the planet (axial tilt) and the latitude of the Biblical borders in Israel” and proposes that different Aliyahs (immigrations to Israel) can be prophetically determined. He refers to an Aliyah beginning in 2020 that will eclipse all previous ones and be the last. He claims that the southernmost border of the Arnon River, being the most southern of all of Israel’s borders, has prophetic significance for that event and that the latitude of that southern point corresponds to the year 2019. The year 2019 had about 34000 immigrants into Israel and the figures for the year of 2020 and on remain to be seen. Of considerable interest is that the Jewish Press reports that there has been a 50% increase in applications for Aliyah since the coronavirus and that 961 immigrants arrived in Israel during March 2020.
Jerusalem, the Center of the World’s Focus
One other thing Mr. Kullook mentions is that God has, from the beginning of the Creation of the world, planned everything to be centered in Israel. He says, “When Hashem created the world, he had all of history, heavens and earth and man, all set out, based on Jerusalem and the Jews.” Indeed, Jerusalem is the center of the world’s focus, being at the center of Asia, Europe, and Africa from ancient times until today. For the most part, of the children of Noah, the descendants of Shem migrated to Asia, those of Ham to Africa, and those of Japheth to Europe. Today, the world looks on Jerusalem and Israel as a place of great unrest and turmoil.
Zec 12:2-3 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. vrs :3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
Christians see Jerusalem as pulsating with the soon fulfillment of Bible prophecy with the coming antichrist, the rebuilding of the third temple, and with Christ ruling there during the 1000-year Millennium, and so on.
But most of all, the one thing that we do know is that the Bible believer has “a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.” (2 Peter 1:19) This speaks of the Word of God. It is absolutely sure. Whatever apologetic arguments are thought out to prove the existence of God, the book of Genesis opens up with the words “God created.” The Bible makes no effort to prove that God exists. It says in Psalms 14:1 and 53:1 that the fool has said in his heart that there is no God.
The Bible’s unique and amazing unity, its indestructibility, its prophetical accuracy of events to occur centuries later, the deep care that the scribes of Israel had in transmitting the text through painstaking copying, as well as the preservation of the Jewish people, are the greatest proofs that God exists and we can depend upon those prophecies more so than any Bible code, blood moon theory, or any mathematical evidence.
Lastly, the greatest evidence that allows us to know that God exists is His Word and its life changing power. It takes a sin-sick individual and transforms him into a holy child of God by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. The Written Word, the Bible, and the Living Word, Jesus Christ, and the fact that they can change a life, even your life, are the greatest proofs we have that God exists and that God cares for each individual in the world. He wants all people to come to Him. 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
