Prophecy tells us that there will be pestilences and other things leading up to the last days. The dead corpses of multitudes of locusts have contributed to fatal diseases called plagues or pestilences. In the past, a deadly plague broke out in China influenced by rotting locust corpses.
Matthew 24:4-9 “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.”
In Matthew 24, Jesus was talking to His Jewish disciples. He warned them not to be deceived by false Christs. Sadly, many Jews will be deceived by a false Christ during the prophesied seven-year Tribulation. This deceiver is known as the Anti-Christ. There have been many false Christs in the past claiming to be Christ the Saviour of the Jews. But, the Anti-Christ who will deceive many Jews during the prophesied seven-year Tribulation is a particular Anti-Christ who is a part of Satan’s evil trio. All of those false Christs before the one Anti-Christ, who rules in the Tribulation, are just leading up to the end. The Anti-Christ of the Tribulation will be the last Anti-Christ before King Jesus rules on Earth for one thousand years, Matthew 24:4, 5.
Jesus also tells His Jewish disciples that there will be wars and rumors of wars before the end. He told His disciples not to worry about wars and rumors of wars. During major wars, like World War I and World War II, some people probably said that the end of the world was about to happen. Certainly, many people did leave this world when they had an appointment with death. Sadly, many Jews were murdered by Hitler’s bloody war machine. But, as Jesus said, “the end is not yet”, Matthew 24:6.
We have seen nations and kingdoms fight against each other in our past history. Wars often lead to famine. War destroys food supplies leading to the starvation of many people. When people and animals die in wars, pestilences, such as fatal diseases and plagues, often take place. Earthquakes have killed millions, Matthew 24:7.
Wars and the tragic results of war cause many sorrows. When a son or a daughter is killed in a war, nothing in this world can satisfy the grieving hearts of their families. But, these things are just the beginning of sorrows for the Jews, Matthew 24:8.
Since the Jews began as a people, they have often been afflicted by their enemies. Many Jews have been murdered simply because they are Jews. Hate in the form of anti-Semitism has spewed, like vomit, from every nation in the world. Satan is behind the plot to destroy the Jews because they are God’s chosen people. Because the Jewish people are special to God, many people are jealous. This unjust jealously has led many wicked people to hate the Jews. Jesus will come back and rule the Jews in the end times, Matthew 24:9.
Pestilence is a fatal epidemic disease, such as bubonic plague. Because of the mass destruction of crops by locusts, sometimes locust attacks are called pestilence. In the past, swarms of dead locusts have led to fatal pestilences.
“In the ninth century BC, the Chinese authorities appointed anti-locust officers. Aristotle studied locusts and their breeding habits and Livy recorded a devastating plague in Capua in 203 BC. He mentioned human epidemics following locust plagues which he associated with the stench from the putrefying corpses; the linking of human disease outbreaks to locust plagues was widespread. A pestilence in China in 311 AD that killed 98% of the population locally was blamed on locusts, and may have been caused by an increase in numbers of rats (and their fleas) that devoured the locust carcasses.” (1)
If you were to die today, would you be ready to live with Jesus in His millennial kingdom. Only a remnant of Jews will live in the millennial kingdom. Make sure that you are a part of the Jewish remnant. Repent of your sins and believe on Jesus as your Saviour!
