The Mennonite Church USA voted to get rid of any invested interests they hold from companies owned by Israel. When a person or group gets rid of investments in certain companies, it is called divesting, as opposed to investing. The Mennonite Church USA plans to sell any stock or other investments that they own in Israeli companies. They are claiming that this is a protest against the companies in Israel that are making a profit from occupying Arab Palestinian territories. This divestment is based on a misinterpretation of the Scriptures about peace.

The Mennonite Church USA is siding with those who believe that Israel is treating the Palestinian Arabs unjustly. They claim to be Christians, but this divestment from Israeli companies goes against the Scriptures. Those in the Mennonite Church USA state that they are Anabaptist. To them, this simply means that they rebaptize. It is their policy to rebaptize adult believers who were baptized as babies contrary to Scriptures. Of course, babies should never be baptized. We do not endorse many of the doctrines taught by the Mennonite Church USA, but, some of them are most likely true Christians. If they are true Christians who desire to obey the Scriptures, they need to continue to support Israeli companies.

The Scriptures plainly tell us to bless Israel if we do not want to be cursed. Surely, the Mennonite Church USA does not want the curse of God on them for divesting from Israeli companies.

Genesis 12:2-3 “And I will make of thee a great nation [Israel], and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:  3 And I will bless them that bless thee [Israel],, and curse him that curseth thee [Israel],: and in thee [Israel] shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

The Scriptures plainly tell us that the land the Arab Palestinians are trying to claim is the Promised Land given by God to the Jews of Israel. How would the Mennonites feel if someone moved onto their personal property and claimed it as their property?  Would the Mennonite Church USA members give away their own personal property to have peace with their enemies? Certainly, this would not be acceptable to them! But, yet they have made a decision to pressure the Jews into giving away the land that God gave to them.

Genesis 15:18 “In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed [the Jews] have I given this land [Promised Land of Israel], from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:”

Most of the Mennonites are against war. They say they are not against the Jews, but that they are simply trying to help bring peace between the Arab Palestinians and the Jews of Israel. The effort to bring peace is commendable but not if it is a peace that causes disobedience to other Scriptures. Peace at any cost would lead to the destruction of the Jews of Israel. King Jesus will lead an army to defeat the enemies of the Jews invading the Promised Land. The Mennonites boast about how they are followers of Jesus. If that is the case, they better be ready to follow Him in war against the enemies of Israel. Read Zechariah 14 to learn more about this war that Jesus and the saints will take part in. This bloody war will finally bring true, lasting peace to Israel.

Revelation 19:11 “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he [King Jesus] that sat upon him was called Faithful [Jesus] and True [Jesus], and in righteousness he [Jesus] doth judge and make war.”
Revelation 19:14 “And the armies [saints and holy angels] which were in heaven followed him [Jesus] upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.”

Most people do not like war, but sometimes war is necessary to bring peace. Those who oppose Israel in hopes of bringing about a temporary, false peace will face the anger of God. It is wrong of the Mennonite Church USA to divest in Israeli companies in an effort to force an unjust, temporary peace. It is never right to do wrong in order to accomplish something that you think is right. The Arab Palestinians have constantly terrorized the Jews in Israel. Israel has been forced to go to war with the Arab Palestinians because of their constant attacks on innocent Jews. Christians need to support Israel in the protection and possession of the Promised Land that God gave to the Jews. The Palestinian Arabs need to move to the land that God gave to Ishmael and his descendents. Peace must be based on obedience to the Scriptures.

We encourage our readers to contact the leaders of the Mennonite Church USA by email and phone. Let them know that their decision to divest in Israeli companies is in opposition to God and Israel. Encourage them to read this article and other related articles at the Hopeofisrael.net site. Please contact as many of the following leaders as possible. Be firm in your stand for Israel, but be sure to be courteous to the people that you speak with or write to. Thanks!
